Angle Steel Bar Can Be Cut To Different Needs

Angle Steel Bars are a type of structural steel which are L shaped. Other forms include the T beam, Z shape, Channel, T shaped, Bar, Rod, Plate, and Asymmetrical I Beams.

These angle steel bars can be made out of a number of different materials each of which contain different properties and thus are used for different purposes. Carbon Steels are generally used for Structural Shapes, Pipes, Plates and Tubing. High Strength Low Alloy steels are used for the same as Carbon but also W Shapes.  Corrosion Resistant High Strength is only used for Structural Shapes and plates whereas Quenched and Tempered Alloy Steels are used for Structural Plates, Plates and Boilers and Pressure Valves.

The composition of the steel involved also changes the properties of the material. Often coatings are applied to steel to attempt to increase the Critical Temperature which is the temperature in which the steel is unable to bear its load. This is very important in cases of fires where injuries to persons or items may happen as the steel will no lobger be able to provide the mechanical strenghth.  The Thermal Properties of Steel vary depending on the composition of the Alloy, i.e. the substances other than iron that are used to form the steel.

The Autenizing temperature which is the temperature at which the steel becomes a crystal structure is used to compare different alloys. Pure Iron has an Autenizing temperature of 900 Centigrade, Eutectic is far lower, this has less than 1% Carbon and when more carbon is added, this temperature will increase again. When the Carbon levels are above 2.1%, the name of the substance  is no longer steel but Cast Iron.

There are number of ways in which Steel can be bent including Press Brake Forming, Three Point Bending, Folding, Wiping, Rotary Bending, Elastomer Bending and Jogging. There are three types of Press Brake Forming and these are Air Bending, Bottoming and Coining and in all of these a punch provides the force required for bending the steel.

There are a number of uses for angle steel bar and they are generally Structural, the steel helps provide a force to hold items in place. Therefore it is imperative that the angle produced is so exact and various calculations are used to ensure that this is the case.  There are many different companies available which are able to offer specialised cutting allowing the exact size and angle to be formed for different needs.

Quality Pre-Galvanised Steel Offers Protection Against Corrosion

Galvanising is a highly effective and economical way of protecting a variety of steel articles, both industrial and commercial, from corrosion. In this process, zinc is deposited onto a steel surface, which creates a layer to protect against corrosion of the steel base that is being coated. Before this zinc deposition, the steel sheets are cleaned with sulphuric acid and fluxed with ammonium chloride. Pre-galvanised steel is a process where steel is galvanised as a sheet, before it is formed into a product and not after the product is created.

Pre-galvanised steel fulfils several commercial and industrial needs. This can be anything from galvanised roofing, siding roofing nails and other fasteners, beams, sidings, utility poles, fencing and a whole lot of general agricultural and industrial components.

Use of pre-galvanised steel is not a new happening, as this process dates back to the mid 19th century, but it has come to become important in construction ever since the 1950s. However, initially, these steel sheets used to be passed through a coating pot, and dipped into molten zinc by hand. But with the huge advances in technology, easier and more efficient techniques are being used today, to facilitate mass production of high-quality pre-galvanised steel.

There is an outstanding history of using pre-galvanised steel for protection from damage caused by atmospheric, soil and water environments. Decades of using steel products created through this process shows us that the pre-galvanisation treatment is a very effective means of preventing damage.

There are many reasons it is found to be desirable in construction:

  • Provides corrosion resistance
  • Prevents coating degradation
  • Helps with colour retention
  • Offers better formability
  • Costs less

Pre-galvanised steel is used by construction companies as panels in roofing and siding. It is used in utility poles in the electricity lines and also as automobile body panels. In fact, this form of steel can be used by any application that needs galvanic protection because of mechanical damage.

Today, pre-galvanised steel materials are considered to be the industry benchmark. Everyone from contractors to engineers to architects use this form of steel to design a variety of structures; including buildings, parking lots, sports stadiums, shopping malls, parks and everything else that uses steel.

There are many manufacturers of pre-galvanised steel in the market, but using one that gives importance to quality-control goes a long way in ensuring the structures you create using this steel last long and do what they are supposed to – protect from damage. Everything from the aluminium content to the quality of the galvanising zinc bath makes a difference on the appearance, thickness and protection from rust formation of the steel sheets. Good companies ensure they follow international standards.

Important Structural Steel Cutting Techniques Everyone Should Be Aware Of

Those people who are involved with some areas of manufacturing know that steel cutting is extremely essential. It isn’t enough to be aware of the need for precise steel cutting in many industrial processes but it's equally vital to note that it needs to be done by specialists to achieve proficiency and accuracy. There are many tactics and techniques which are typically employed while cutting steel however the technique selected in almost any particular steel structural cutting depends on the sort of steel being used and the desired end product.

There are lots of handheld devices that are utilized in steel cutting but it is important to quickly point out that many people presently use many electronic applications while cutting steel. Some of the significant steel cutting techniques includes although not restricted to the below:

Laser steel cutting is generally utilized in some major industrial processes. This consists of using extremely high-powered laser beam to cut or pierce the steel structure under consideration. Using laser be am to slice steel helps to produce very neat melting together with the exact point which is needed without warping the steel. This typically leaves very clean edge in the steel structure. Fusion steel cutting, which is also referred to as melt and blow is a laser beam steel cutting technique that uses high-pressure gas to blow molten steel away from the cutting point. A different laser steel cutting technique that is quite popular is the reactive cutting. This is when the high-power laser beam is utilized as oxygen torch to slice or design desired shapes out of steel materials. The very fact remains that laser steel cutting techniques are frequently more specific compared to the average mechanical steel cutting method.

A different prominent steel cutting technique which is used to slice steel while working in occupied buildings for example office buildings, hospitals or hotels is the abrasive high-pressure water jets. This is mostly utilized in such premises since the water gas can't cause any form of vibrations that might adversely alter the pieces of equipment inside the building while tasks are in progress. Additionally, it doesn’t have slag, dust or gas as left over. This steel cutting technique can also be utilized in occupied buildings which is quite noiseless as opposed to laser and plasma steel cutting techniques. Abrasives including silica sand are mostly utilized to create the needed cut in the steel although not before high-pressure plunger pumps are used to push-up the water and the tiny abrasive particles. It is extremely simple to control or adjust the abrasive water high-pressure water jet steel cutting process to professionally cut any necessary shapes or angles inside the steel material or structure.

Laser Cutting

Laser cutting is (as explained by it’s name) a sort of technology where a laser is utilized to cut materials and it is regularly applied within the industrial manufacturing sector (for instance for the cutting of flat sheet materials in addition to the materials to be used for piping and structural purposes). However, laser cutting has become more and more employed by small businesses, hobbyists and also secondary schools as part of the D.T. (Design Technology) curriculum. In simple terms this method functions by directing (through the use of a computer) the output of a high power laser at the material that needs to be cut. This material is consequently burned, melted, vaporized or even blown away by a jet of gas, inducing the material being having an edge with a high quality surface finish.

There are 3 main kinds of lasers which may be useful for the process of laser cutting, with some being more desirable for specific purposes than others. The CO2 laser, for example, are the best option for the processes of boring, cutting, engraving and scribing and perhaps they are employed for the cutting of numerous materials in the industrial sector (such as aluminium, stainless steel, titanium along with paper, wood, fabrics and even wax!). Neodymium (Nd) lasers on the other hand can be used for boring and for processes where high energy but low repetition is required. The 3rd type of laser, neodymium yttrium-aluminium-garnet (Nd-YAG), is most used for processes needing extremely high levels of power and for boring and engraving, resulting in this type of laser being primarily employed for scribing and cutting metals and ceramics. However, all three laser types are ideal for use within the entire process of welding.

The process of laser cutting could be thought to have many perks over other ways of ‘cutting’. For example, when compared to ‘mechanical cutting’ (relating to the by using power-driven machine tools such as drill presses, lathes and saws either by human ‘machinists’ or via Cad), laser cutting has advantages such as easier work holding and increased precision as the laser beam does not get worn-out with time. Also as laser cutting involves merely a very small heat-affected zone, there's less potential for materials warping whilst being cut in this manner. Laser cutting can also be more precise and more energy-efficient for the effective cutting of sheet metal compared to the use of ‘plasma cutting’ (involving the use of a plasma torch).

Fusion steel cutting, which is also referred to as melt and blow is a laser beam steel cutting technique which uses high-pressure gas to blow molten steel out of the cutting point. Another laser steel cutting technique that is quite popular is the reactive cutting. This is where the high-power laser beam is utilized as oxygen torch to slice or design desired shapes out of steel materials. The very fact remains that laser steel cutting techniques are usually more precise compared to the average mechanical steel cutting technique.
Another prominent steel cutting technique that is used to slice steel while doing work in occupied buildings such as office buildings, hospitals or hotels is the abrasive high-pressure water jets. This is mostly used in places such as this since the water gas can't cause any type of vibrations that might adversely alter the equipments in the building while work is in progress. It also doesn’t have slag, dust or gas as left over. This steel cutting technique can also be used in occupied buildings since it is quite noiseless compared with laser and plasma steel cutting techniques. Abrasives such as silica sand are mostly used to create the needed cut in the steel although not before high-pressure plunger pumps are utilized to push up water and the tiny abrasive particles. It is extremely simple to control or adjust the abrasive water high-pressure water jet steel cutting process to effectively cut any required shapes or angles inside the steel material or structure.

Vital Structural Steel Cutting Techniques You Should Know

Those who are involved in some aspects of production know that steel cutting is very essential. It isn’t enough to be aware of the need for steel cutting in many industrial processes but it is equally vital to note that it needs to be done by professionals for proficiency and accuracy. There are several ways and techniques that are usually employed while cutting steel but the method chosen in any particular structural cutting depends on the type of steel and the desired end product.

There are lots of handheld devices that are used in steel cutting but it is important to quickly mention that many people presently use many computerized applications while cutting steel. Some of the major steel cutting techniques includes but not limited to the following:

Today, pre-galvanised materials are considered to be the industry benchmark.
